50 years of experience has made ZIEGRA one of the leading specialist companies in the world, which exclusively deals with industrial ice machines and technology associated with it: from small laboratory machines, medium-sized machines for trade and processing, to large fully-automatic equipment for industry.

More than 80 specialists work at ZIEGRA, who concentrate on all questions regarding ice. Experience, unconditional quality awareness and constant further development make ZIEGRA the European benchmark. To date, ZIEGRA ice machines are used in over 160 countries on all continents. Our own national and international customer service departments, subsidiaries and representatives provide the necessary support with all installations.

The second generation of this family company continues to ensure that the production is "made in Germany". This guarantees a large flexibility of tailor-made and customer-related solutions alongside the high level of quality.
1957 The company ZIEGRA was founded as a distribution and service company for ice machines imported from the USA. It began as a classical general importer for these machines, which were unknown in Germany at the time: In the first year one machine was purchased, in the second year two, and from there it took off.
1969 The first German machines, developed by ZIEGRA, were constructed by DWM-Copeland.
1971 The von Rohr family joined the company. Expansion of machine sizes to up to 4,000 kg daily output. At the lower range, laboratory ice machines with an output of 30kg were introduced, and to date they are still the smallest ice machines in the world.
1972 Foundation of a subsidiary in Great Britain, which ZIEGRA owns 80% of and is run by a local partner.
1978 Development of the first container ice plant upon customer request and in connection with the construction of a modern fishery in Somalia, following the "Landshut" plane hijacking.
1979 Relocation of production to Isernhagen, to the north of Hannover. The founder of the company, Mr. Ziegra, leaves the company.
1993 In 1993 a subsidiary was founded in Spain, which is also run by a local partner.
1994 and from 1979 to today: new and further developments in trawler ice machines, automatic ice silos, automatic dosing systems, liquid, pumpable StreamIce® from salt or fresh water.
2002 Expansion of production and administration buildings.
2007 The second generation takes over the share of one of the family partners, which now essentially runs the company.
