| Description | CD35 is also known as C3b/C4b receptor or CR1. Four molecular weight allotypes (160kD,190kD, 220kD, and 250kD) have been described. CD35 is expressed on granulocytes, monocytes, B cells, erythrocytes, and follicular dendritic cells, as well as subsets of NK and T cells. CD35 binds complement C3b,C4b, or iC3, and iC4, and plays important roles in both innate and adoptive immune response via mediatingphagocytosis by granulocytes and monocytes. Reacts with CR1, the receptor for the complement component C3b, composed of four different allotypes (160, 190, 220 and 250 kD). CD35 antigen is expressed on granulocytes, monocytes, B cells, some NK cells and erythrocytes. It binds complement components C3b and C4b, mediating phagocytosis by neutrophils and monocytes. This antibody cannot inhibit the phagocytic capacity of granulocytes. CD35 antibody is useful in studies of complement receptors. |
