Description | Anti-ER81. ER81 is an ETS-class DNA binding transcription factor expressed in a wide variety of tissues. ETS activation is responsive to mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling pathways and alters gene expression via interaction with the co-activators p300 and CBP. Activation of ER81 is implicated in a number of solid tumors including Ewing's sarcoma and breast cancer, as well as leukemia. HER2/Neu overexpression activates ER81 and further enables a positive feedback loop caused by p300/CBP/ER81 binding at the HER2/Neu promoter. Knockout of the ER81 locus in mice produces pronounced limb ataxia. ER81 expression marks spinal cord afferents destined for monosynaptic connections between sensory and motor neurons. Expression of ER81 in neurons is dependent upon signaling from outside the cell, particularly emanating from the limb bud. |
