| Description | Catalase Polyclonal Antibody. Catalase is a 527 amino acid heme-containing peroxisomal enzyme belonging to the catalase family. It is a common enzyme that occurs in almost all aerobically respiring organisms and activates the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide, thus serving an important role in protecting cells from the toxic effects of hydrogen peroxide. Catalase, a homotetramer, is associated with cofactors like heme group and NADP and is known to have one of the highest turnover rates of all enzymes.
