Studies demonstrate that p53 is critical for the prevention of tumorigenesis and may potentially be involved in at least half of all known cancers. p53 functions as a transcription factor to regulate genes involved in apoptosis, cell cycle, senescence, metabolism, angiogenesis, immunity, differentiation, and migration.
