Product Description Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS) is widely used in many growth supplements and is derived from clotted whole blood aseptically collected from fetuses via cardiac puncture. Each lot is rigorously controlled and tested. It is sterile filtered and has a pH that is neutral. The FBS is tested for endotoxins and exceeds cell culture testing standards. The media has no greater than 0.625 EU/mL and is free from viral agents. Components FBS consists of a complex mixture of various sized biomolecules with concentrations of hormones. Product Use FBS is for research use only. It is not approved for human or animal use, or for application in in vitro diagnostic procedures. Storage Store Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS) at -20oC. Protect from light. The serum is stable until the expiration date located on the bottle as long as it is stored at -20°C. When stored in the dark at 4oC, it is stable for one month. Shipping Dry Ice. Prepare for use Thaw FBS slowly to prevent degradation of the serum; we recommend thawing in a 4-6°C Fridge overnight. Make sure the contents are completely thawed and slowly invert to mix. Flocculent material or precipitates may appear upon thawing or if stored for prolonged periods of time in the refrigerator. This is a normal characteristic of any type of serum and is not an indicator of bacterial growth or signs of detrimental performance. |
