http://www.creativebiomart.net/description_382698_12.htm Claudin-11, also known as CLDN11, belongs to the group of claudins. Claudins are integral membrane proteins and components of tight junction strands. As a physical barrier, tight junction strands can prevent solutes and water from passing freely through the paracellular space between epithelial or endothelial cell sheets. Claudin-11 plays a major role in tight junction-specific obliteration of the intercellular space, through calcium-independent cell-adhesion activity. A dysfunction of CLDN11 gene may cause human blood-testis barrier disruption. CLDN11 plays an important role in regulating proliferation and migration of oligodendrocytes. |
