Phylogenetic analyses have shown that eachsubtype in this major group (group M) is approximatelyequidistant from the others, as if arising from a commonancestor. In contrast, a few divergent HIV-1 strains form acluster distinct from group M and have been categorizedas members of the outlier group (group O). Purity >95% by SDS-PAGE and RP-HPLC |
