Description | Rabbit Anti-Human PAS Kinase polyclonal antibody for WB, IHC-P. PAS domain-containing serine/threonine-protein kinase (EC 2.7.11.1; UniProt Q96RG2; also known as hPASK, PASKIN, PAS-kinase, Per-arnt-sim domain kinase) is encoded by the PASK (Also known as KIAA0135, STK37) gene in human (Gene ID 23178). PAS-kinase is a serine/threonine-protein kinase involved in energy homeostasis. Hepatic PASK expression is shown to be induced upon feeding and insulin stimulation, and PASK is reported to be essential for the proteolytic maturation of the transcription factor SREBP-1c in cultured cells and in the mouse and rat liver. SREBP-1c hyperactivation leads to excess hepatic fatty acids and triglycerides synthesis, which has been implicated as a causal feature of metabolic syndrome. PASK inhibition improves lipid and glucose metabolism in dietary animal models of obesity and dyslipidemia. PASK is also involved in protein translation regulation and is shown to phosphorylate eukaryotic translation elongation factor eEF1A1. |
