| Description | HSV-2 gG (residues 525-578) protein.The E.coli derived recombinant protein contains the HSV-2gG immunodominant regions, 525-578 amino acids, thetotal MW is 32,100 Dalton, fused with 26 kDa GST-tag.Glycoprotein G in HSV-2 is the only HSV envelope proteinto be cleaved posttranslationally during processing. In thevirus-infected cell, gG-2 is cleaved into a secreted aminoterminal portion and a carboxy-terminal portion.The latter protein is further O-glycosylated, generatingthe cell membrane-associated mature gG-2. ThemgG-2 protein has widely been used as a prototype antigen for detection of type-specific antibodies against HSV-2. MW: 32 kDa. Purity >95% by SDS-PAGE |
