Hsp70 (Heat Shock 70kDa Protein 1A) belongs to a family of conserved ubiquitously expressed heat shock proteins with similar structure in virtually all living organisms. Hsp70 has plays an important role of the cell's machinery for protein folding. Hsp70 is also involved in stabilizing proteins against aggregation and allows them to refold by binding to hydrophobic residues exposed by stress. Additionally, Hsp70 directly inhibits heat-induced apoptosis. |
