Description

4-Aminosalicylic acid exhibits anti-inflammatory, antioxidative, and antibacterial activities; it is clinically used to treat inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), Crohn’s disease, and colitis, as it acts primarily in the colon. 4-Aminosalicylic acid is used against Mycobacterium as a treatment for tuberculosis; it inhibits dihydrofolate reductase (DHFR) activity as an antimetabolite.
