Description

• Neuropen assesses if patient can distinguish touch stimulus (monofilament) and sharp stimulus (Neurotip)
• Neurotip test uses calibrated spring mechanism to force of 40g to assess reduced sensation to sharpness/pain in small nerve fibers
• Monofilament test exerts force of 10g to assess protective touch/pressure sensation in large nerve fibers
• Monofilaments are replaceable

Peripheral neuropathy cannot be excluded without regular foot screening in conjunction with symptomatic and clinical assessments
