| Immunogen | Pools of purified homogenous IgG2a isolated from mouse serum of strains belonging to the allelic types Igh-1a and Igh-1b. Freunds complete adjuvant is used in the first step of the immunization procedure. |
| Target | IgG2A. The reactivity of the antiserum is directed to the subclass IgG2a. It reacts strongly withIg2a of the allelic types Igh-1a and Igh-1b, which include BALB/C, C57BL, CBA/J, SJ/J and SM/J. When used for the identification of IgG2a in other mouse strains the reaction may be weaker. The antiserum contains antibodies to iso and allospecific determinants. It does not react with other subclasses of IgG, IgG/Fab fragments, IgM and IgA or any non-Ig protein in mouse serum, as tested by immunoelectrophoresis and double radial immunodiffusion. |

| Storage | The lyophilised antiserum is shipped at ambient temperature and may be stored at 4°C; prolonged storage at or below -20°C. Reconstitute the lyophilised antiserum by adding 1 ml sterile distilled water. Dilutions may be prepared by adding phosphate buffered saline (PBS, pH 7.2). Repeated thawing and freezing should be avoided. If a slight precipitation occurs upon storage, this should be removed by centrifugation. It will not affect the performance of the antiserum. Diluted antiserum should be stored at 4°C, not refrozen, and preferably used the same day. |

| Adsorption | Immunoaffinity adsorbed using insolubilized antigens as required to eliminate antibodies cross-reacting with other components of the immunoglobulin system or reacting with other serum proteins. Special attention is given to the removal of antibodies to common Ig/Fab. The use of insolubilized adsorption antigens prevents the presence of excess adsorbent protein or immune complexes in the antiserum. |
| Application Notes | This IgG fraction is not species-specific since inter-species cross-reactivity is a normal feature of antisera to immunoglobulins. Cross-reactivity of this product has not been tested in detail. IE: In immunoelectrophoresis use 2 μl or equivalent against 120 μl antiserum. In double radial immunodiffusion (Ouchterlony) use a rosette arrangement with 10 μl antiserum in a 3 mm diameter centre well and 2 μl serum samples (neat and diluted) in 2 mm diameter peripheral wells. |
