Alpha-mangostin has strong antifungal activity and low toxicity to make it a promising agent for treatment of oral candidiasis. 3. Alpha-mangostin exhibits peripheral and central antinociception through modulation of opioid and vanilloid receptors, the glutamatergic system, and the larginine/NO/cGMP/PKC/K(+)-ATP pathways. 4.
