| Application Notes | TetraHydroDesOxyCorticosterone (THDOC) is a stress related neuroactive steroid. THDOC is a metabolite of desoxycoritcosterone (DOC) and progesterone and DOC is a steroid in the synthesis pathway to aldosterone. THDOC is produced by the adrenal in parallel with cortisol at stress and is regulated by ACTH. THDOC is a potent positive modulator of the GABA A receptor. THDOC passes the blood-brain barrier and can be found in the brain after stress in nanomolar concentrations. |
