Recombinant Human Interleukin-13 (rHu IL-13) is a multifunctional cytokine whose principal action is to diminish inflammatory responses. IL-13 is an important cytokine secreted from type 2 helper T lymphocytes.

IL-13 is a pleiotropic cytokine, which shares many biological functions with IL-4. The receptor subunits of IL-13 consist of IL-4Ralpha, IL-13Ralpha1 and IL-13Ralpha2. rHu IL-13 produced in E. coli is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain that contains 114 amino acids and has a molecular mass of 12.6 kDa. |
