Interleukin 11 (IL-11) is a pleotropic cytokine. It is closely related to IL-6 in function, but overall it is one of the lesser characterized interleukins.

In non-hematopoietic populations, it is thought that IL-11 is able to stimulate hepatic acute-phase proteins. Recombinant Human Interleukin-11 (rHu IL-11) produced in E. coli is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain made up of 179 amino acids with a molecular mass of 19.26 kDa. |
