Useful for the study of cathepsin activity, and for screening small molecule inhibitors of cathepsins B, F, and L for drug discovery and HTS applications.

Can also be used as a substrate for papain, cruzipain, plasma kallikrein, soybean trypsin-like enzyme, and the falcipains I and II, the hemoglobin-degrading cysteine proteases from the malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum .
