Staurosporine is a potent inhibitor of many kinases including protein kinase C, protein kinase A, and protein kinase G. It also induces apoptosis in human neuroblastoma cell lines and chick embryonic neurons.

Staurosporine, a microbial alkaloid with antifungal activity, has been shown to inhibit a variety of kinases including PKA (Ki=7.0 nM), PKG (Ki=8.5 nM), MLCK (Ki=1.3 nM), PKC (Ki=0.7 nM), CaMK (IC50=20 nM), CAMKII (Ki=20nM), tyrosine kinases (IC50=70 nM) and phosphorylase kinase (IC50=0.5 nM).

Soluble in DMSO or ethanol; insoluble in water.

Light yellow crystalline solid or solid film at bottom of vial.

Store at or below –20°C. Solid form is stable at least 12 months from date of receipt, when stored as directed. Do not store aqueous solutions for more than one day.
