Background: Thrombin, which cleaves bonds after Arg and Lys, converts fibrinogen to fibrin and activates factors V, VII, VIII, XIII, and, in complex with thrombomodulin, protein C. Functions in blood homeostasis, inflammation and wound healing.
Description: The Human Thrombin was activated from homogeneous human prothrombin by activation with Factor Xa, Factor Va, and phospholipid. These activating enzymes were removed after activation. Complete activation was observed on SDS-PAGE. MW = 37 kDa.
