Background:
POLG is the catalytic subunit of the mitochondrial DNA polymerase. The catalytic subunit contains three enzymatic activities, a DNA polymerase activity, a 3’-5’ exonuclease activity that proofreads misincorporated nucleotides, and a 5’-dRP lyase activity required for base excision repair. Mutations in the POLG gene are associated with several mitochondrial diseases, including Alpers' disease, ataxia-neuropathy disorders, and dominant and recessive forms of progressive external ophthalmoplegia.
Description:
Human DNA polymerase γ (gamma), also known as Pol gamma and POLG (GenBank Accession No. NM_002693), a.a. 2-1239 (end), with N-terminal His-tag and N-terminal FLAG-tag, MW=141 kDa, expressed in a baculovirus infected Sf9 cell expression system.
