IGT Microprocessor controlled, with selectable inking sequences for the inking of printing discs to be subsequently used on A1/A2, AIC2-5 and GST printability testers. Extremely rapid - saves significant amounts of operator time. The operating temperature of the rollers and ink can be selected to maintain consistent ink tack.Suitable for offset printing and letterpress printing inks.

Enables rapid inking of printing discs under tightly controlled conditions. Total inking time can be reduced to 15 seconds and up to 4 printing discs can be inked simultaneously.

Computer controlled with settings and the operating instructions read from the display, the operating temperature is selectable and controlled between 15 °C and 45 °C via an external thermostatic water bath. The actual temperature of the rollers can also be viewed on the display.

The IGT High Speed Inking Unit 4 can be used to ink printing discs:

  • with conventional and UV-drying offset inks and pick test oils
  • for use with the IGT Printability Tester AIC2-5 and all versions of the IGT Global Standard Testers
  • in the printing ink, paper and board, print metals, plastics and packaging, resin lacquer, coating and raw materials industries as well as in training centres and research institutes

Operation
The IGT High Speed Inking Unit 4 consists of a top roller and two metal distribution rollers which are temperature controlled. The top roller can be used to ink a maximum of 4 different printing discs. The inking speed can be adjusted from 0.2 to 1.2 m/s.

Printing discs lifted automatically

The ink is applied to the top roller in three strips for optimum distribution time. The printing discs are brought into contact with the top roller and the ink is distributed for the predicted time. Separate inking times can be set for each of the four printing discs.

The printing discs are automatically lifted from the top roller as soon as the set inking time elapses, ensuring a well-defined inking time for each disc. The printing discs can also be lifted manually. The unit can be programmed to perform different inking sequences which allows selection of the most suitable inking sequence or optimum inking time.

Temperature control
The thermostatic water bath can either heat or cool the unit. Accurate temperature control is important for pick tests and when studying the properties of inks at different temperatures. This is particularly important at high distribution speeds that generate heat, which can affect tack and ink viscosity and consequently the test results.

Cleaning
The program contains a separate mode for fast and safe cleaning; the top roller can be lifted automatically to facilitate the process. A transparent cover is there to prevent contamination of the surroundings and to prevent any undesired air flow around the roller system.

Option
The IGT ink pipette is required to apply ink to the top roller. The pipette significantly increases the accuracy of the ink application and thus the results of the tests. For even higher accuracy, the IGT ink pipette HR is available.
